About The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, by Bertolt Brecht, translated by Bruce Norris
Written by the legendary Bertolt Brecht and translated by Tony, Olivier, and Pulitzer winning playwright Bruce Norris, this parable play* satirizes the rise of a demagogue to tyrannical power. Norris speaks to the fact that he was translating prior to the 2016 election and that the results of that election had a direct impact on his translation moving forward. The play, written in verse, leans heavily on Shakespearean allusions and references as Brecht did in his original piece penned in 1941 about the rise of Hitler in Germany.
Will we see you for this evening of bold, provocative and important storytelling?
